Beautiful Retro/Vintage Designs
I found this amazing collection of beautiful and inspiring vintage design on Smashing Magazine. I LOVE looking at vintage design, it just boggles my mind to think about the old-fashioned ways of type setting, etc. These designs look so well executed and yet they are done in such a primitive way. My Adobe Suite – brainwashed mind can’t even fathom having to do these by hand!
Enjoy, below are my favourites along with some commentary. Click for Link>>>
This one is super cute! It’s very simplistic and easy to recognize. I also love the implied boots!

I found this to be extremely effective. It’s so epic-looking and bold (same thing?)! Love!

I thought this was very cool. Very good play on the optical illusion!

I thought this poster was very cool, especially since the whole 3d look is coming back in. Some designers are just so ahead of their time… (this may also have been a trend back then).

This looks like it could’ve been designed this year! Very strange how trends seem to come back around and around!

Beautiful Underground Home
Whist stumbling I came across this B-E-A-Utiful piece of architecture. It is an underground home in the Swiss Alps. This design has some very interesting shapes and angles, and is quite a marvel to look at. It was designed by SeARCH and Christian Muller Architects, both Netherland-based firms. Although I find the interior of the home quite stark and uninviting, this would easily be changed with a coat of paint and some new furniture. You know, for when I move in.

February Calendar
As mentioned before, I will make an effort to post my monthly desktop wallpaper. Below is February. I choose from calendar wallpapers featured on Smashing Magazine. As usual, they have tons of beautiful wallpapers, which are also available sans calendar. Check ‘em out! Click for Link>>>
Etsy Finds: Typography Posters, etc.
Due to my massive hangover and lack of interest to do anything today, I’ve been looking at Etsy for the past few hours. I’m looking for a picture to put on my kitchen wall. I believe I already had a post regarding this issue, but my boyfriend didn’t like any of my choices, so it went no further. However, the gap in my kitchen remains and I need to fill that gap. I don’t think these pictures are going to go up there, but I love them nonetheless and thought I would share.

This one I think I love more for the quote than anything. I may just do this one myself on the computer!

I love this one for the quote, as well as the design. However, it may be too pink and girly for my apartment (read:boyfriend).

This one is just great! It’s very western and old fashioned. I thought it was nice, but didn’t consider buying it until I read the last line: Wear Glasses if you Need ‘Em.

I think this one is my favourite. I’ll probably buy it for a more prominent wall, perhaps in my living room?
